Head of Estate Planning
Valur
About the Company:
At Valur, we are on a mission to democratize tax strategies that have traditionally been reserved for the ultra-wealthy. Similar to how Roman Health and Hims revolutionized access to healthcare, we are building the system to streamline complex tax planning tools — making them smart, simple, and accessible to everyone.
We started by simplifying the creation and management of irrevocable trusts, and today we offer a full suite of solutions to address capital gains, income, and estate and gift tax obligations. Our proprietary platform delivers real-time tools and education, enabling individuals and their advisors to evaluate, select, and implement best-in-class tax mitigation strategies — from trust-based solutions to investments in solar energy and oil and gas partnerships.
The proof is in the results: We have scaled quickly to 7-figures of annual revenue with 12 team members, and have partnerships with some of the top investment advisory firms in the business. Given that traction, we have raised money from a group of top early-stage investors, including Vibe Capital, Box Group, Canaan Partners, BasisSet, and notable angels. As demand accelerates, we are expanding our team to help more individuals preserve and grow their wealth.
About this role:
We are hiring a Head of Estate Planning to help make it seamless for families to understand, choose and use advanced estate planning strategies and help high-net-worth individuals and their advisors maximize the wealth they transfer to future generations.
As our Head of Estate Planning you will directly shape our product strategy, contribute to the creation of educational materials, and build partnerships with financial advisors, CPAs and non-profits. Leveraging your deep estate planning expertise, you will be integral in enhancing existing products, and guiding strategic initiatives that influence the growth trajectory of Valur. - Continue to build out our estate planning educational content and client-facing resources
- Serve as an internal resource for the team on estate planning structures, tax law updates, and best practices
Key Traits:

- Client-First Approach: Ability to explain intricate planning concepts clearly to clients and advisors
- Product Mindset: Excited to help shape and improve offerings based on client needs and market feedback
- Collaborative Builder: Comfortable partnering with sales, marketing, and operations teams to create an outstanding client and partner experience
- Persuasive Communicator: Skilled at building trust and moving sophisticated, high-net-worth clients toward action
- Startup Mentality: You thrive in fast-paced environments, embrace ambiguity, and enjoy building from the ground up
Qualifications:
- J.D. required; LL.M. in Taxation is highly preferred
- 4+ years of experience practicing in estate planning, trust administration, or private client services at a law firm, wealth management firm, or similar environment
- Experience advising high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly in translating complex strategies into accessible explanations
- Comfortable working in a tech-forward, early-stage environment, with a high degree of independence and hands-on mentality
What We Offer:
- An opportunity to play a critical, highly visible role in a rapidly growing company
- A collaborative and supportive team environment
- Fully remote roles and significant career growth opportunities
