SEO & Growth Content Manager
Marketing & Communications, Sales & Business Development
New York, NY, USA · Remote
USD 45k-80k / year + Equity
About this role:
We're hiring an SEO & Growth Content Manager to run organic growth at Valur — hands-on, end to end. You'll diagnose and fix technical SEO issues across our content properties, decide which queries we go after, write and edit content on complex tax topics, and direct contractors to a quality bar you set. You'll work directly with our Head of Growth, with full ownership of the channel and none of the layers.
This is a deliberately high-slope role. We're not looking for someone who has already done everything, we're looking for someone 3–5 years in who has learned fast at an agency or a startup, has real technical chops, and wants the rare chance to own a company's #1 acquisition channel outright and grow with it.
*If you're interested, please send a short note describing a time you diagnosed an SEO problem on a content property (cannibalization, declining rankings, thin or bloated content), the plan you built to fix it, and what you did to execute it.
*
Key Responsibilities:
- Own technical and on-page SEO across Valur's content properties: diagnose cannibalization, keyword mapping, content gaps, and decay, and build the plan to fix them
- Prioritize the queries each page should win and make the call on each piece of content: rewrite, shorten, consolidate, expand, or re-optimize around those target keywords
- Develop outlines, briefs, and topic strategy for webinars and video; direct contractors and designers to build decks and cut video into snippets for SEO and social
- Manage contractors to a clear quality bar, executing directly where that's needed
- Track organic performance and report on what's working, feeding insights back into the content roadmap
- Partner with Growth and Product to make sure content supports lead generation and the advisor and client journey
Key Traits:
- SEO Diagnostician: You see a content property and start spotting what's cannibalizing, what's decaying, and what to prioritize. You build plans, not just observations.
- High Slope: You've grown faster than your years. The best case for hiring you is what you did in the last 12 months, not the size of your former employer.
- Startup Mentality: Energized by fast-paced environments, comfortable with ambiguity, happy getting your hands dirty. You'd rather own a whole channel at a small company than a slice at a big one.
- Range Across Formats: Comfortable moving from a keyword-mapping spreadsheet to a content brief to directly editing existing articles.
- Teacher's Instinct: You can take dense, technical subject matter and make it land for a real audience. Native fluency in written English is essential — our content lives or dies on clarity and trust.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years in SEO or content marketing with demonstrable technical depth (not just writing). An agency chapter, an in-house startup chapter, or both.
- At least one result you personally drove and can walk us through end to end: the diagnosis, the plan, the execution, the numbers.
- Hands-on proficiency with SEO tooling (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console) and at least one CMS (WordPress, Webflow).
- Evidence you can go beyond blog posts, a free tool, a programmatic build, a webinar or video program, a linkable asset, even a small one.
- Strong editorial judgment in English and the ability to translate complex financial or technical concepts into clear, compelling content.
- Comfortable working independently on a remote team with a 4+ hour daily overlap with US Eastern time.
- A note on fit: this likely isn't the right role if your SEO experience is mostly at large companies where you owned one slice of a bigger program, or if you've worked exclusively as a freelancer. The role needs someone who's been embedded in a startup team and owned the whole channel. Bonus: familiarity with financial services, wealth management, or an audience of advisors and high-net-worth clients.
What We Offer:
- Full ownership of the #1 growth channel at a fast-growing US fintech — the portfolio-defining role most people wait a decade for.
- Direct mentorship from our growth leadership; no layers between you and the decisions.
- $45,000–$80,000 USD (experience- and location-dependent) + stock options.
- Fully remote, globally, with flexible hours outside the ET overlap window.
- A collaborative and supportive team environment.
About the Company:
At Valur, we are on a mission to democratize tax strategies that have traditionally been reserved for the ultra-wealthy. Similar to how Roman Health and Hims revolutionized access to healthcare, we are building the system to streamline complex tax planning tools — making them smart, simple, and accessible to everyone.
We started by simplifying the creation and management of irrevocable trusts, and today, we offer a full suite of solutions to address capital gains, income, and estate and gift tax obligations. Our proprietary platform delivers real-time tools and education, enabling individuals and their advisors to evaluate, select, and implement best-in-class tax mitigation strategies — from trust-based solutions to investments in solar energy partnerships.
The proof is in the results: We have scaled quickly to 7-figures of annual revenue with 15 team members, and have partnerships with some of the top investment advisory firms in the business. Given that traction, we have raised money from a group of top early-stage investors, including Vibe Capital, Box Group, Canaan Partners, BasisSet, and notable angels. As demand accelerates, we are expanding our team to help more individuals preserve and grow their wealth.
Our Values:
Customer Centricity: Our job is to be our customer’s best partner.
Ownership: Everyone here is an owner. We identify problems and solve them.
Growth: We’re never satisfied; we aim to be better every day.
Urgency: We prioritize the highest-impact work and solve it now.
