Our Opportunity
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer for our Extensibility Team. The Extensibility Team is responsible for delivering tools and infrastructure to enable customers and partners to build on top of the Snyk Platform. The domain ownership includes: Webhooks / Events Systems, API Tooling for the new REST API and Snyk Apps. The ambition of the team is to deliver the Snyk App Marketplace and you will play a central role in shaping the strategy to make this a reality.
You’ll Spend Your Time:
- Providing technical leadership for the team, working closely with the Engineering Manager and Product Manager
- Partnering with other engineers in the organisation to deliver solutions which encourage platform-thinking
- Working in a full CI/CD environment, at a sustainable pace, within our modified Shape Up (Snyk Up!) process broken into cycles and sprints
- Fostering engineering best practices within your team by defining and teaching them
- Mentoring and coaching other engineers in the team & group
- Taking part in our on-call rotation to maintain and support our production services (for a week every ~10 weeks)
What You'll Need:
- At least 8 years experience working on commercial web applications
- Strong strategic thinking skills with a hands-on approach
- An ability to clearly communicate complex ideas, problems, and solutions to team and company
- To encourage effective testing, code quality, and useful code review
- To be comfortable with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment workflows
- To be proactive and enjoy working on cross-functional delivery teams
- To enjoy learning and sharing with your peers, and are comfortable pair programming
- An interest in providing technical direction for the team, and influencing prioritisation
- To enjoy helping to mentor and grow other engineers
We’d be Lucky if You:
- Have Node/Typescript experience
- Have Go experience
- Have experience with Kubernetes or another container-based operational environment
- Have experience scaling a rapidly growing SaaS application
- Have experience of building great REST APIs
- Have experience with authentication and authorization standards, such as OAuth2
