We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join team Duplo. The team is the primary Frontend team of Smartly and focuses on the adoption of Design System, customer onboarding experience of Smartly and customer dashboards. This includes the holistic customer experience across our platform as well as the onboarding journey from the first Aha-moments to becoming lifelong happy customers of Smartly. Team Duplo is also working with the Design Systems to ensure consistency across the product, enhancing the user experience and enabling engineers and designers to work efficiently. Additionally, the team includes an internal sub-team dedicated to centralized UI development, serving several connected teams. The Engineering Manager works in close collaboration with the Lead Engineer and other Engineers of the team to ensure technical excellence.

The teams in the group are building a variety of functionality that are agnostic of our advertising platform integrations and work across them like campaign analytics, actionability, advertising automation and customer onboarding journey.

The team is front-end heavy, with React and TypeScript being the primary stack. On the backend, the favored stack at Smartly.io is Node.js in combination with TypeScript. For testing we use Jest and React Testing Library.

Our engineering teams consist of both product specialists and engineers, and alongside the lead engineer you will take the lead in delivering products and features in the right time with right content and brilliant quality. As an Engineering Manager, you will be in charge of getting the best out of people, through coaching, 1:1s, helping them build a development plan and in general removing blockers from the team's path.

• You have experience throughout the full software life-cycle in an environment with multiple teams.
• You have built and maintained large-scale, high-availability web applications with an active and growing user base.
• You have experience in various agile development practices as well as the pragmatism to know which tradeoffs are acceptable and a sharp focus on delivery.
• Ability to deliver constructive feedback that leads to meaningful changes and growth.
• Empathetic and user-focused: you care deeply about the product experience, you understand users’ motivations and frustrations, and you genuinely want to help them.
• You are a skilled developer. You will need to be also hands-on when coaching the team members to new technical and professional heights, which can involve code reviews, pair programming, etc.
• Ability to work from our Helsinki office three days a week.
