In this role, you’ll build scalable solutions, optimize data flows, and contribute to a product used by 90% of our customers—all while growing alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.

We are looking for a junior engineer already based in Helsinki, ready to work in a hybrid model with three days per week in our office.

About the Bobby Tables Team & The Role

The Bobby Tables team develops and maintains the core reporting engine that powers Smartly’s AI-driven advertising platform. Our reporting tools process billions of data points across multiple ad channels, enabling some of the world’s largest brands to make data-driven decisions and optimize their campaigns.

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will:

• Develop both backend and frontend features, improving reporting tools used by thousands of marketers.
• Work with large datasets and optimize data aggregation and visualization.
• Build scalable APIs and contribute to system performance improvements.
• Learn best practices in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and database management.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and designers to develop high-impact solutions.

Technologies We Use

• Backend: Node.js (TypeScript), Ruby (Active Record), PostgreSQL with Citus
• Frontend: React
• Core: REST APIs, data ingestion services

What We’re Looking For

• 2-3 years of professional experience in software development.
• Experience with backend development in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL is a plus).
• Familiarity with React is beneficial but not required.
• A problem-solving mindset and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Already based in Helsinki and able to work in our office three days a week.
