We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join the AI Product Lab Creative Team at Smartly! Our team works on helping marketers make the most of their ad creatives (images, video, text). We build and experiment with AI-based solutions across the creative workflow, from creative learning to creative production assistance and optimization. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of and work on high impact projects.

Our team members are based out of Helsinki and the San Francisco Bay Area. We are hiring for this position in Helsinki to be closer to DSs/MLEs on our team, as well as, Smartly.io’s product development org. The AI Product Lab Media team, our sibling team under the AI Product Lab banner, is also based out of Helsinki/Berlin. Our team works with teams in Helsinki/Berlin often and we’ve been able to effectively collaborate, despite the time zone difference.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll…

  • Build and strengthen Smartly’s MLOps + data platform. You’ll work alongside our stellar senior machine learning engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to enable us to productionize AI/ML applications more robustly and efficiently.
  • Build end-to-end ML-based solutions, primarily in the creative production space. This primarily involves working with image, video, text, and ad performance data to generate new creatives, perform scalable asset search, and much more.
  • Work with large scale and proprietary advertising data.
  • Be a core contributor of our team and our ways of working to build high impact products. You’ll actively be involved in work planning, retrospectives, and overall team improvement.
  • Work with our stakeholders - be them product, engineering, infrastructure - to ensure we meet customers where they are. As with most ML-related roles, being able to translate business/product needs to viable solutions is a must.
  • Apply and enhance your soft skills through working closely with your colleagues and our customers. Doing knowledge shares, running productive meetings, and pair programming/debugging are just some ways we grow our soft skills.
  • Keep up to date with the latest ML innovations, especially in areas such as generative AI, computer vision, natural language processing, generative AI, and explainability.

What we are looking for...

  • Experience building and using MLOps/LLMOps workflows. Extensive knowledge of Python, IaC, and AWS is a must. Experience with ClearML and Prefect is a bonus.
  • Experience building production-quality ML applications (especially computer vision and LLM) for industry applications.
  • Passion for solving customers’ problems at a fast pace
  • Passion to drive best possible technical architecture choices, and be fearless when facing unknown new challenges.
  • Work with a globally distributed team effectively.
