Job Description

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Run aircraft hangar operations.
  • Lead aircraft assembly, maintenance, and repair functions.
  • Support integration of payloads.
  • Be able to understand aeronautical and electrical documentation.
  • Lead aircraft assembly, maintenance, and repair functions.
  • Prepare aircraft for flight.
  • Oversee manufacture wiring harnesses and composite material repair.
  • Be able to write operating instructions and assembly guides.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and regulations applicable to working with complex mechanical systems, hazardous materials, and testing environments.
  • Participate in the setup and execution of tests involving mechanical systems and components, following established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Collect data during testing and assist in analyzing results to identify anomalies, discrepancies, or improvements needed.
  • Have autonomy at work and provide support when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and test results obtained.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in mechanical technology and space exploration systems.
  • Be based at Stennis International Airport, Mississippi.

Tasks and Accountabilities

Outline Job Profile:

  • Lead Integration Team undertaking the assembly, dis-assembly, maintenance, upgrade and testing of a large scale solar Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
  • Manage team workloads to meet project timescales and demands
  • Support requirements definition, management and conformance verification
  • Oversee, support and coordinate qualification and acceptance test campaigns for UAV systems in accordance with Engineering policies
  • Support flight-test and evaluation
  • Mentoring and Guidance of members of the team as well as the wider Skydweller team.
  • Help to create an inclusive workplace, championing collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics or related subject
  • 5+ years’ experience in aerospace / aviation / UAV industry.
  • Experience of running a dynamic delivery-focused team, managing tension between requirements and delivery
  • Through knowledge of:
    • Composite materials and manufacturing techniques
    • UAV Avionics systems
    • UAV structures and mechanics
  • Some of the following may be beneficial:
    • Experience of novel R&D programmes, ideally with challenging ‘cutting edge’ technology
    • Experience of large UAV development
    • Experience of RF communication systems
    • Experience of UAV avionics hardware systems
    • Experience of solar power and battery management systems
    • Experience of building vehicles, robots or other complex systems
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment and team leadership.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed for testing and maintenance activities.
  • Full valid driving licence.
  • Ability to climb ladders, drive forklift, and operate scissor lift.
