    WHO WE ARE

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    As Realtime’s Head of Design, you’ll be responsible for all things visual. You will build, lead and manage our design team to ensure our products and features are valuable for Realtime’s users and communities, are easy to use, and excel in craftsmanship and execution. You’ll play an integral part in establishing how our brand is perceived. Additionally, as Head of Design, you will:

  • Create UI elements in our app, redesign our website, and mastermind dope merchandise and events.
  • Build and manage a talented, diverse, inclusive team of product designers and leaders that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across a range of design skill sets.
  • Drive collaboration and vision across the company to build alignment on priorities leading to product design and execution.
  • Shape the product roadmap, both short term and long-term.
  • Oversee multiple projects and scale design resources accordingly, ensuring deadlines are met, your org is effective, and team members are set up for success by setting clear and measurable goals.

    • We are looking for a multi-disciplinary designer with strong design, communication and leadership skills—someone who thinks in terms of systems and storytelling--not just a pixel pusher.

    WHO YOU ARE:

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Design; minimum of 3 years as a multidisciplinary designer.
  • Leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership, including hiring and developing entry and senior level designers.
  • Endless curiosity, with a hand in every visual medium, and across multiple platforms.
  • An amazing eye for detail and quality.
  • Confidence in owning the overall visual ethos for a budding brand.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Adept at working with creatively-minded people who lack technical design language (ie, translating ideas into tangible assets/output).
  • Emphasis on brand and visual identity, but with at least some hands-on experience doing wire-framing and UX.

    • NICE-TO-HAVES

    (But if you don’t have them, don’t sweat it!)

  • Experience with AfterEffects, C4D, or other animation software
  • Experience with video editing
  • Proficiency with Figma
  • Previous experience designing and creating tangible products (like sweatshirts, stickers, or other types of merch)
  • Previous experience with designing experiential marketing events

    • Our Head of Design will be a foundational member on the leadership team, will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Engineering/Product teams.

    This role is hybrid with a combination of remote work and in-person work based out of our New York City office. Candidates should either be located in the NYC area, or be willing to relocate.
