Position Summary:
IDEAYA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vivarium Manager to oversee the daily operations of our animal care facility and lead in vivo pharmacology studies. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in animal husbandry and in vivo techniques, along with a proven ability to design and execute independent research projects. This role requires a hands-on individual who can both supervise staff and actively participate in experimental procedures.
The Vivarium Manager will manage daily operations of vivarium and manage, lead, and perform in vivo PK, PKPD and efficacy studies in murine cancer models. They will perform and supervise in vivo pharmacology related services including animal care and husbandry duties, inspection and receipt of animals, and in vivo pharmacology procedures including dose administration in rodents, necropsy and tissue collection.
This position is based in our South San Francisco headquarter offices and required to be onsite.

What you'll do:

  • Manage vivarium operations, including facility maintenance, mouse inventory and ordering, and IACUC protocol compliance
  • Conduct in vivo pharmacology studies with small molecule therapeutics in murine models of cancer, including tumor cell implantation, monitoring of disease progression, tumor and body weight measurements, administration of test agents, sample collection, and maintaining study documentation.
  • Write study reports and maintain ELN records.
  • Contribute to the internal development of cancer models.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems and drive continuous improvement of procedures.
  • Evaluate vendors for new products or technologies that may enable process improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and training to other lab members.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for vivarium operations and animal care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all animal care and experimental procedures.
  • May serve as member of IACUC.
  • May supervise husbandry and weekend contractor.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in biology, physiology, pharmacology or a closely related scientific discipline with >6 years of work experience in industry utilizing preclinical cancer models.
  • Experience with routine animal husbandry.
  • Proficiency with xenograft models, including tumor implantations, tumor measurements, dosing of agents by multiple routes of administration (PO, IP, IV), and tissue collection and archiving.
  • Excellent record-keeping, communication skills, and maintaining ELN records.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and GraphPad.

The expected salary range for this role that is based in our South San Francisco, California office is $130,000 - $148,400.
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the office location where this open position is located, the final candidates’ experience within their profession, experience in the disease areas we are striving to make an impact in as a company, length of time within the industry, educational background, and performance during the interview process.
