Position Summary:
The position reports to the Associate Director of Accounting & Finance and will be an integral team member in the Accounting and Finance operations. The ideal candidate will be able to work well with cross functional teams, as well as being able to streamline operations for the business, while being hands on in the Procure to Pay, T&E, credit card, general ledger, monthly-close and financial system processes and implementations. The successful candidate must possess both strong operational experience as well as solid accounting principles.
What you'll do:
- This position would work with the Associate Director and Assistant Controller to support Accounts Payable, General Ledger Accounting, Month-End close, financial audits, tax support, and any requested regulatory filings
- Processes Accounts Payable payment runs and transactions (process and/or review invoices) and will lead / assist the team with research and resolution; interacts closely with vendors and other team members of the organization
- Responsible for vendor bank account maintenance and related vendor setup support documentation, such as W9 collections and vendor banking verifications
- Support and administer Company’s Travel & Expense and Credit Card Programs, to ensure employees adhere to company policy
- Prepares or reviews AP related journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepares GL journal entries and account reconciliations, as needed
- Prepares GL and AP month end close tasks and schedules, as needed
- Reviews work prepared by other Accounting & Finance team members, as needed; can support other senior accountants responsibilities as backup
- Identify opportunities to reduce the close accounting cycle, enhance existing processes
- Drive process improvements and contribute to accounting transformation projects
- Support ERP enhancements, reporting tool enhancements and UAT testing
- Support annual financial audit, SOX support compliance, and tax filings, as needed
- Files annual Form 1099s and other regulatory forms timely
- Assists in other ad hoc projects/reports
Requirements:
- 4-7+ years’ experience in a related field, Biotech experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
- Responsive and reliable with strong ethic skills
- Detailed and deadline oriented; strong documentation skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player; able to think critically and apply concepts learned to new tasks or projects; able to produce work accurately and timely; takes the initiative to address questions
- Strong time management skills and comfortable managing multiple deliverables
- Proactive in taking on new tasks and problem solving on the go
- Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization and with external contacts
- Works well in a dynamic office environment; positive attitude and orientation of client customer service at all times
- Must possess high degree of integrity, respect for others and trust to handle complex and sensitive financial and personal information
- Proven aptitude for systems; advanced Excel skills required
- Experience with Concur, Coupa and NetSuite or similar enterprise reporting systems preferred
- Skills: General Ledger, A/P Processing
