Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Specialist
Hermeus
Los Angeles, CA, USA
USD 142,500-235,750 / year + Equity
Posted on Dec 10, 2025
Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.
Hermeus is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Specialist who will become the internal authority for our Manufacturing Execution System (Manufacturo), while growing into a broader role supporting the digital manufacturing ecosystem (MES → ERP → PLM → EDW).
This is a hands-on, highly user-facing role supporting technicians, engineers, quality, supply chain, and inventory teams. Manufacturo ships new functionality every two weeks, and our processes evolve even faster. Your mission is to help our teams get the most out of the software and help mature our internal workflows as we scale to repeatable production.
You’ll bridge product updates, real manufacturing behaviors, and cross-functional needs — ensuring our systems are intuitive, reliable, and continuously improving.
Responsibilities:
- Daily Support Across All Teams:
- Serve as the go-to expert for HOW-TO questions, workflow guidance, and issue triage
- Support Technicians, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Inventory teams in day-to-day usage
- Work with users regularly to observe real usage, diagnose root causes
- Identify user workarounds and convert them into proper workflows or solutions
- Translate user intent into clear, correct MES behaviors and processes
- System Configuration & Administration:
- Manage users, roles, permissions, licenses, and core system configuration.
- Identify and resolve misconfigurations that impact usability or accuracy
- Review biweekly releases, evaluate impact, and test new capabilities
- Determine which feature benefits which team and coordinate structured rollouts
- Publish clear targeted release notes and prepare users ahead of system changes
- Find and fix data issues proactively, and prevent them from recurring
- Continuous Improvement:
- Observe actual MES usage to identify friction, inefficiency, and usability gaps
- Determine whether issues stem from process gaps, training needs, configuration issues, or true product limitations.
- Collaborate with users groups to simplify and refine workflows.
- Validate improvements with end users, gather feedback and iterate quickly
- Identify underutilized features or capabilities and train users on adopting them
- Maintain a prioritized enhancement backlog based on direct observation—not just intake requests
- Submit high-quality, validated feature requests to the Manufacturo product team.
- Advocate and drive Manufacturo to work enhancement and bug fixes critical to production operations
- Analyze root cause of recurring data issues and push for system-level solutions
- Cross-System Awareness: You are not expected to be an ERP/PLM admin – but you will grow your understanding
- Learn how MES data flows to/from NetSuite, Teamcenter, and Data Warehouse
- Partner with ERP/PLM owners to investigate and resolve cross-system issues
- Support testing of new integrations or workflow changes across systems
- Help Digital Transformation ensure end-to-end consistency across the digital thread
- Training, Documentation & User Adoption:
- Create simple, visual guides and SOPs for all user groups.
- Conduct concise, targeted training sessions for technicians, engineers, quality, and supply chain.
- Maintain an internal knowledge base of “how things work” across teams.
- Ensure new features are understood and adopted without disruption.
- Drive standardization across teams
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of MES or Manufacturing Systems experience.
- Strong communication skills across technicians, engineers, quality and supply chain.
- Excellent at observing processes, asking questions, discovering root causes.
- Passionate about simplifying work – and improving flow.
- Comfortable with fast-changing manufacturing environments.
- Ability to query SQL databases and analyze data.
- Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with Manufacturo or similar MES (Tulip, Solumina, FactoryTalk, Plex etc).
- Aerospace or complex hardware manufacturing experience.
- Exposure to ERP (NetSuite, Odoo, Oracle, SAP).
- Experience supporting manufacturing lifecycle workflows, engineering changes, configuration traceability and scaling process from single builds to serial production.
- Motivated by solving operational challenges with practical, scalable technology solutions.
