Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.
We are seeking a Production Coordinator to join our growing team and serve as the operational backbone of our manufacturing floor. In this role, you will coordinate daily production priorities, manage material flow, and ensure schedule adherence to meet critical program milestones.
As one of the first Production Coordinators in our facility, you’ll help build the systems, tools, and workflows that keep manufacturing operations running efficiently. This position requires exceptional organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, first-principles engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and prioritize daily production activities across multiple work centers to meet engineering and program schedules.
  • Maintain real-time visibility into hardware status, work orders, and material availability to drive on-time execution.
  • Interface cross-functionally with manufacturing, planning, quality, supply chain, and engineering teams to remove blockers and maintain production flow.
  • Track, manage, and communicate component and assembly progress from fabrication through final delivery.
  • Identify and escalate potential schedule risks, material shortages, or resource constraints before they impact deliverables.
  • Support work order creation, traveler management, and configuration control in coordination with planning and engineering.
  • Monitor inventory levels, coordinate material movement between stations, and support receiving or kitting operations as needed.
  • Help develop and implement production control systems, documentation standards, and process improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment, supporting Lean principles and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide daily reporting on production metrics, part status, and key milestones to leadership and program managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in production coordination, manufacturing operations, or shop floor support (aerospace, defense, or high-performance hardware environments preferred).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, work order flow, and material traceability.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with ERP or MES systems, spreadsheets, and production tracking tools.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume production environment with rapid iteration cycles.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of BOM structures, part kitting, and configuration management.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting basic engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to be hands-on on the manufacturing floor daily, supporting technicians and engineers as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and move parts or materials between workstations.
  • Extended or flexible hours may be required to support production schedules and critical milestones.
