Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.
The Manufacturing Team at Hermeus are the boots on the ground. We have a vast array of experiences ranging from welding, additive manufacturing, tube bending, machining, integration, and avionics. We are a lean team who are responsible for building a vehicle that will fly. We provide crucial design feedback to our engineering team and can rapidly iterate on design and assembly.
As a Quality Specialist, you will play a critical role in the inspection, validation, and conformity control of supersonic and hypersonic vehicles at Hermeus. You will leveragea unique attention to detail and critical thinking to identify systemic issues and collaborate with operations and engineering to implement sustaining corrective actions. Through experience and analytics, you’ll help guide quality policies and improve upon the inspection methods within the business. You will be an objective-oriented team player and challenge yourself every day to make improvements that increase the safety, reliability, and rate of next-generation aircraft manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • You will inspect component-level and integrated Hermeus components to ensure they meet process specifications, print requirements, and quality standards as well as assist in the development of inspection procedures and criteria
  • You will document inspection results, including measurements, observations, and any identified issuesleveragingan MES system
  • You will communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies, documentation issues, and other potential nonconformities to prevent material escapes
  • You will resolve nonconformance and documentation issues, support Quality Management System policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance to company and industry standards, and participate in continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions with a unique opportunity to influence production process improvements and correct systemic design issues
  • Stay updated with industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to aerospace quality inspections and policies

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent certificate
  • 3+ years of experience in quality inspection in Aerospace or 5+ years of experience of quality inspection in another manufacturing field
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack ups
  • Strong communication skills and ability to read and provide feedback on technical documents

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a startup development environment
  • Experience work with laser tracking set-up and software
  • Experience working in a flight development program
  • Experience with optical comparators and laser scanning
  • Experience with CMM (not required for the role)
