Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company’s first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse — an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.
Hermeus is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with a focus on enterprise architecture to join our Information Technology (IT) team. • Ensure infrastructure deployments are automated, version-controlled, and idempotent.
  • Build and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines for software applications, integrating automated testing and security / quality checks.
  • Design and implement device policies to deploy configurations, improve security, and ensure compliance.
  • Implement monitoring and logging solutions to provide real-time insights into health and performance of applications, services, and devices.
  • Respond to alerts and troubleshoot issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure that internal infrastructure adheres to security and compliance standards.
  • Work with development teams to streamline the build and deployment processes of internally developed software.
  • Implement security best practices, including code scanning, vulnerability assessments, and access controls.
  • Create scripts and tools to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and drive process improvements.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in incident response activities, diagnosing and resolving production issues as they arise.
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews and problem-solving efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps, SysAdmin, or related roles, with a focus on enterprise architecture design.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools and practices, such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Experience with networking technologies in hybrid cloud environments, such as firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or similar.
  • In depth knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • In depth knowledge of cloud platform solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Security-conscious with expertise in cybersecurity and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
We encourage you to apply even if you have skillsets and experience outside of our current needs as we're always open to connect and discuss future opportunities.
