Hermeus is a startup developing hypersonic aircraft to radically accelerate air travel. At Mach 5, more than twice the speed of the supersonic Concorde, passengers will be able to cross the Atlantic in 90 minutes. On the path to hypersonic passenger aircraft, Hermeus is partnering with government agencies including the US Air Force and NASA to develop a series of autonomous aircraft that derisk the technology and solve urgent national security challenges. These products provide the data and confidence necessary to certify, produce, operate, and maintain safe and comfortable commercial aircraft. Hypersonic aircraft have the potential to create trillions of dollars of new global economic growth per year, unlocking significant resources that can be utilized to solve the world’s greatest problems.
Hermeus is seeking its first Technical Writer. Your role will require polished technical content generation skills. Your expertise will play a crucial role in effectively communicating our mission to our customers building a library of proposal content. Your core responsibilities include crafting compelling materials to inform customers' market research and acquisition strategies and crafting compelling technical narratives on bleeding-edge technology sets. You will sit in the middle of the business and have the opportunity to collaborate with the engineering, production, and capture teams.
For Hermeus, leveraging hypersonic aircraft to address government needs is a critical step in the path toward safely and comfortably flying passengers at Mach 5. We are looking for all-stars who can help advance the development and deployment of the world’s first Hypersonic aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts and management, to gather necessary information for proposal content.
- Translate technical and business information into clear, persuasive, and client-focused language.
- Write and edit proposal content, including executive summaries, project descriptions, methodologies, timelines, budgets, and other relevant sections.
- Ensure that proposals are tailored to the specific needs and requirements of each client or project.

- Conduct research to gather relevant data, statistics, case studies, and market insight to support proposal arguments.
- Analyze client needs to formulate effective proposal strategies.
- Create and maintain a repository of proposal content, templates, case studies, and technical references for future use.
- Continuously update and refine content based on industry feedback and changes.
- Serve as a supporting asset for contract deliverable development in order to ensure that the engineering and production teams can remain appropriately focused on designing and building aircraft.
Required Qualifications:
- Self-starter who is experienced managing multiple competing deadlines at one time.
- Exceptional writing skills demonstrated through the production of extensive documents within tight deadlines.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation.
- Extensive expertise in performing interviews with Technical SMEs and understanding and translating technical jargon into easy to read and understand content.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear articulation of information and the ability to comprehend business requirements, fostering strong relationships throughout the organization.
- Comfortable collaborating with diverse disciplines, such as product, engineering, program management, manufacturing, finance and more.
- Unassailable attention to detail and organization.
- Experience in Aerospace and/or Government proposals.
- Expertise in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- U.S. Person status is mandatory for this role due to the requirement to access export controlled data.
- Active TS/SCI clearance desirable.
- Ability to hold a security clearance required.
