Company:

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

Job Area:

Operations Group, Operations Group > Sourcing

General Summary:

About the Role

We’re seeking a Commodity Manager specializing in Memory (DRAM) to own end-to-end category strategy, supplier management, and sourcing execution across our DRAM portfolio. You’ll balance cost, supply assurance, quality, and technology roadmaps for enterprise and consumer product lines. This role partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Planning, Supplier Quality, Finance, and Legal, and engages directly with Tier-1 semiconductor suppliers and module partners.

If you have 3–5 years of commodity management, sourcing, or supplier management experience in semiconductor, EMS, OEM, or memory module categories—and you thrive on data-driven decisions, negotiation, and risk mitigation—you’ll be a strong fit.

**Position requires to be in San Diego, full time onsite**

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Market Intelligence

  • Develop and own the 3-year DRAM category strategy covering cost, continuity of supply, regional diversification, and technology transitions (e.g., DDR4 → DDR5, LPDDR4X → LPDDR5).
  • Maintain market intelligence on bit growth, wafer capacity, lead times, ASP trends, and supplier CAPEX impacting DRAM availability and pricing.
  • Benchmark pricing and TCO across direct DRAM and module BOMs; build should-cost models and cost roadmaps.

Sourcing & Negotiation

  • Lead RFx (RFI/RFP/RFQ) cycles, negotiations, and contracting (MLAs/MSAs/SOWs) for DRAM and memory modules.
  • Secure allocations and volume commitments; structure VMI/consignment/SMI programs where appropriate.
  • Drive PPV, cost-downs, rebates, and value engineering through packaging, density, and speed bin optimization.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Own key supplier relationships (e.g., DRAM manufacturers and module assemblers); conduct QBRs and performance scorecards.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality Engineering on PPM/DPPM, change control, and PCN management.
  • Assess supplier risk (financial health, geopolitical exposure, capacity utilization) and execute dual sourcing and buffer strategies.

Cross-Functional Delivery

  • Collaborate with Hardware Engineering on memory selection, qualification, and AVL decisions.
  • Work with Planning to align LT/CT, MOQ, and inventory strategies to demand variability.
  • Align with Finance on standard cost, material inflation assumptions, and forecasted PPV.
  • Support Product Management on NPI timelines, cost targets, and lifecycle transitions/EOL.

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with trade regulations, RSL/REACH/RoHS, and conflict minerals reporting.
  • Maintain clean and current data in ERP/PLM (pricing, lead time, AVL/AML, contract terms).
  • Drive S\&OP inputs, supply risk reviews, and executive-level reporting.

Ideal candidate will have

  • 3–5 years in commodity management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within semiconductor/memory/EMS/OEM environments.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating with DRAM manufacturers or module suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of DRAM technologies (DDR4/DDR5, LPDDR families), timing/speed/binning, and cost drivers (wafer supply, die shrinks, yields).
  • Proficiency with TCO analysis, should-cost modeling, and contracting.
  • Advanced Excel/Sheets; familiarity with ERP/PLM systems (SAP/Oracle/NetSuite/Ariba/Coupa).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to present to leadership.

Preferred

  • Experience managing allocation cycles and recovery plans during market constraints.
  • Hands-on with NPI sourcing, AVL management, and PCN control.
  • Supplier experience with Tier-1 memory providers and module houses.
  • Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance (or equivalent experience).
  • CPM/CPSM, CSCP, or semiconductor sourcing certifications.

Core Competencies

  • Strategic Thinking: Links technology roadmap to supply strategy and cost.
  • Negotiation & Influence: Achieves measurable PPV and favorable terms without compromising supply.
  • Analytical Rigor: Builds models and scenarios; translates data to decisions.
  • Risk Management: Proactive mitigation across supply, geo, quality, and lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Aligns engineering, planning, quality, and finance quickly.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree and 10+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 12+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
