At the AI Nurture team, we leverage cutting-edge AI to transform the apartment renting experience, creating seamless connections between renters and property managers. As a Data Scientist, GenAI on the Data Science team, you will play a key role in shaping our core product by improving LLM-powered experiences, designing and evaluating prompt and retrieval strategies, and driving data-informed improvements to conversational AI performance. This work operates at real production scale, supporting millions of renter conversations per month across multiple product surfaces and use cases, which adds both exciting opportunities and meaningful technical complexity. You will work across experimentation, model evaluation, prompt optimization, and production implementation to improve quality, reliability, and business impact. Partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and other stakeholders, you will help advance one of the company’s most strategic product areas.
This is a temporary position intended to cover maternity leave, with an expected duration of approximately 5–6 months, starting around July 2026. There may be potential for extension based on business needs and performance.
In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For
- Be a key contributor to improving our conversational AI product, a core offering that serves millions of rental conversations.
- Design, run, and analyze experiments to improve LLM performance across use cases such as response generation, summarization, question answering, and classification.
- Develop and refine prompt strategies, evaluation frameworks, and quality metrics to systematically improve model outputs.
- Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end GenAI solutions to solve key challenges in apartment leasing, from exploration and analysis through production rollout.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of GenAI systems in production through monitoring, iteration, and continuous evaluation.
- Contribute to GenAI infrastructure and workflows, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and seamless integration between models, data, and application components.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into impactful AI-driven solutions.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in GenAI agents in production, data science, and applied machine learning, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, experimentation, and model development.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs and prompt engineering, including systematic evaluation and improvement of GenAI systems.
- Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to perform statistical analysis, explore data deeply, and evaluate model behavior critically.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives, balancing short-term execution with long-term impact.
- Curiosity, creativity, and a bias for action in a fast-evolving AI landscape.
Nice to Have
- Experience building or improving RAG systems and conversational AI applications.
- Experience with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including model deployment and MLOps practices.
- Familiarity with Node.js and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with experimentation frameworks, offline evaluation, or model monitoring in production.
