Full-time
Apartment List is undergoing a fundamental strategic pivot: shifting from a transactional listing site to an indispensable Renter Destination. Our core mission is to cut renter uncertainty and help them find the right place, faster and easier—achieving category leadership through unpaid, organic growth. We are seeking an exceptional B2C Product Marketing manager to champion the renter’s perspective and drive the adoption and virality of our new, AI-powered decision-support tools.
While Product Management determines what we build, you own how we win (the market positioning, adoption, and viral growth loops). You will lead the commercial strategy that translates product features into demonstrable renter benefits and massive, repeatable acquisition.
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you'll join the product marketing team to continue to grow the strategic link between the Renter Product Pillar and our growth, content, and brand marketing functions.
What You'll Do: Drive Unpaid Growth
- Accelerate Product/Market Fit (PMF) and Growth: Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and Brand Marketing to define, test, and launch new features. You will own the commercial strategy and market narrative that validates PMF and accelerates our national growth.
- Turn Renters into Lifelong Fans: You'll co-own the strategy to leverage new features that encourage renters to come back. The goal is to prove our platform is essential throughout the entire renter journey, not just for one search.
- Be the Trusted Advisor: Lead the strategic pivot from "just another listings site" to the "Trusted Advisor." Create powerful stories that show how our data-driven decision-support tools—not just listings—give renters the Confidence Advantage they can't find anywhere else, making them return throughout their journey.
- Build for Natural Discovery (SEO/LLM/Shareability): Partner with product, engineering, and brand marketing to ensure every new tool is built to be easily discovered and shared from day one.
- Champion the Voice of the Renter: Leverage deep consumer research to understand core user problems (Decision Friction, Low Trust, Fragmented Journey), translating these insights into compelling positioning, roadmap priorities, and frictionless first impressions.
Why This Role Matters
This role is the commercial engine for our most critical strategic bet: achieving indispensable platform status through unpaid demand. You will be the force aligning our EPD (Engineering/Product/Data) and Marketing execution to a single outcome, ensuring the unique, high-utility tools we build are easily found, perfectly understood, and rapidly shared by renters.
Your success directly fuels our Unpaid Growth Strategy. Without strong B2C PMM leadership here, we risk building lovable products that fail to be discovered, missing our 2026/2027 revenue impact targets, and failing to establish the national blueprint for category leadership.
You're a Fit If: You Are AI-Fluent, Develop Clarity, and Move Fast
- Develop Clarity and Move Fast: You are a natural leader who thrives in ambiguity, providing clarity and focus to high-velocity product cycles. You are high-growth oriented, biased toward action, and can manage trade-offs to execute fast feedback loops and iteration cadence.
- Master Communicator & Synergist: You excel at fostering synergy and alignment across the unified Product, Growth, and Brand teams.
- B2C Platform Experience: You've spent 7+ years in B2C product marketing with significant experience marketing a core consumer-facing web or mobile application, ideally a marketplace or platform making a strategic pivot.
- Unpaid Growth Mindset: You are deeply familiar with strategies that drive organic traffic (SEO, social), and you embrace the philosophy that discoverability is a design requirement, not a bolt-on channel strategy.
- Fluent in AI for Consumer Value: You have a strong, practical understanding of AI, LLMs, and AEOs and are adept at translating complex data into clear, desirable consumer benefits (e.g., "Maximized Savings," "Personalized Certainty"). Familiarity with AEO and LLM search integration is highly desirable.
