We are looking for a Head of Accounting to expand our Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be a key contributor in building a dynamic accounting and finance organization dedicated to financial integrity and focused on supporting our growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities
What will you do?
- Lead and manage the end-to-end accounting function, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Supervise month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations and review journal entries prepared by the accounting team.
- Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting standards (BEGAAP) and local tax laws, including VAT and corporate tax filings.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation and submission of audit schedules and documentation.
- Drive the SAP S/4HANA accounting module, maintenance, and optimization.
- Prepare and deliver financial reports, statutory accounts, and tax filings.
- Provide guidance on complex accounting matters, technical memos, and position papers.
- Support consolidation processes, group reporting, and intercompany reconciliations
- Develop and update internal controls and accounting policies to meet regulatory and corporate standards.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation within the accounting function.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Who are you?
- You have a master’s degree in finance (or similar).
- At least 10 years’ experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 2 years of international experience.
- Excellent people management skills, is a real change manager and has a structured approach.
- A leaderships style that develops trust and respect.
- Fluent in English and Dutch.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP (BEGAAP), Belgian tax law, consolidation and IFRS.
- Proven experience with SAP S/4HANA in an accounting capacity.
- Willing to come to the Antwerp office at least two days per week.
- Background in biotechnology organizations with complex stakeholder, regulatory, or financial oversight requirements.
