Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Operations team in Thailand. In this role, you will lead supplier quality across Asia, ensuring excellence at every stage of the product life cycle—from supplier qualification and new product introduction through ramp-up and mass production. You will be instrumental in building strong supplier partnerships, driving resolution of complex quality challenges, and embedding robust processes that safeguard reliability and performance.
What you'll do:
- Lead APQP implementation with suppliers and contract manufacturer from concept through PPAP submission and production launch, ensuring all deliverables meet applicable quality standards.
- Develop and implement control plans with manufacturing partners that ensure consistent product quality and zero-defect performance.
- Manage supplier quality issues by investigating non-conformances, performing structured root-cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (8D, 5-Whys, etc.).
- Establish inspection methodologies by designing test plans, qualifying precision measurement tools and gauges, and introducing new inspection techniques where required.
- Support supplier selection and onboarding by evaluating technical capability, manufacturing maturity, and quality systems to ensure alignment with Aeva’s standards and program timelines.
- Conduct supplier audits and site assessments to verify compliance with quality management processes, driving corrective actions where gaps are identified.
- Monitor and improve supplier performance by analyzing key process indicators and driving targeted improvement initiatives.
- Influence design for manufacturability and quality by guiding engineering teams during the development phase to ensure appropriate requirements, tolerances, and quality expectations are defined.
- Champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement by coaching suppliers, promoting best practices, and helping to build a resilient, world-class supply chain organization.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
- 5+ years work experience in Manufacturing or Quality roles.
- Advanced knowledge of high volume manufacturing processes and inspection methodologies.
- Expert in automotive quality management standards and processes.
- Proficient in applying AIAG core tools including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Experienced in selecting and developing new suppliers and performing process audits to accepted industry standards i.e. ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3.
- Self-starter who is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to new challenges within a fast paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to define complex problem statements, identify root cause and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Thai.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Nice to have:
- Certified auditor for ISO 9001, IATF16949, or VDA 6.3.
- Experience with LiDAR, optics, or other high-precision electro-optical systems.
- Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) is strongly preferred.
